No False Start

What A Cracker....

This morning it's blowing a hooley coupled with wind and rain it's a right grey start to the day, what's the chance of getting any decent images...well it's not looking that good.

Due to the low light I'm going to push the lens image stabilisation technology to it's limits, the settings I'm using with the tripod mounted 500m f4 lens are 200/sec at f6.3 due to keeping some depth of field for the shortish distance all the while conscious of the Redstarts "flicking" tail which is likely to blur at these slow speeds. Using f 6.3 the iso is bumping 3200 and only later in the morning dose it lower to 1000 in the improving light and never more than 500/sec shutter speed, as you may imagine there's many an image that landed up in the bin.

The dark background in the image was created by lining up the bird in front of a large tree trunk in the background. The green background images were created using the same method but this time lining up the bird in front of the only patch of grass in wood.
