Pwll-Du Quarry, Blorange Mountain, Gwent
This image of a Common Rock Thrush was taken at the end of the main migration period way back in October 2017 that turned up in a quarry above Abergavenny. A summer migrant to the high peaks of southern Europe that should have been heading south of the Sahara instead it headed completely in the opposite direction to a quarry on top of the Blorange mountain in South Wales.
Having seen Rock Thrush in Majorca it was a bit surreal to see this chap in such a bleak mountain top location with Abergavenny in the valley below. A standout clean image for me as the background mountain is way off in the distance on the other side of the valley
Next month I'll pick one of my favourites images from Murcia region of southern Spain
Thanks for viewing and have a great 2019
